Jason Bay, Offerman, and a High Mark for the Red Sox

The Red Sox had a preliminary four year deal with Jason Bay last July but it fell apart because of a dispute about an injury according to Peter Gammons.  Watch below:

Jose Offerman has been suspended for life from Dominican baseball for his attack on an umpire.  The American umpires that had been working the game resigned and left the country in protest to the conditions that allowed the attack to take place.

SI's Jon Heyman ranks the Red Sox #2 in his top ten offseason performances by team.

Tough to argue with making the Mariners number one on that list by Heyman. I'd hate to play them in the first round of a playoff series with Felix and Lee.

The Mariners look like a shoe-in to win the West, especially since the Angels seemed to sit back for this hot stove.
