Jason Varitek has until midnight tonight to pick up his option.  He may be looking for a full time gig behind the dish, not the backup job the Red Sox are offering.  The Royals are in need of a catcher and could be interested in Varitek if he would play for cheap.

I think he would have a nervous breakdown with anyone else, Its like being kicked out of your home. Kinda sad, really.

As much as Theo has bashed Tek by doing this. I would be scared to like him back in, like a disgruntled employee, you never let them return to the normal position, hand them a broom, there no good.

I think Theo is making the right move here. He let Tek know that V-Mart is the full time catcher so if Tek comes back he knows what he is getting into.

I think Tek should just retire with dignity and then immediately get offered a post running one of their farm clubs. Win-Win.
