Is Marco Scutaro a Fit in Boston?

MLB Trade Rumors posted its list of the 50 top free agents including where they think each one will end up.  They have Holliday going to the Mets, Lackey going to the Yanks and Bay returning to Boston.  They also include Marco Scutaro going to the Red Sox:

Marco Scutaro - Red Sox. It's difficult to place Scutaro, because not many teams with shortstop vacancies will be willing to pay the three years and $18MM+ he'll likely demand.  The Sox would be getting the best available shortstop here, but they could instead choose Jed Lowrie and/or Alex Gonzalez.

After getting burned on signing Lugo to a 4 year high paying deal it is not as likely that the Red Sox throw that kind of money at Scutaro.  Last season Scutaro hit .282 with a .789 OPS and his numbers have been consistent throughout his career.   He is a solid player and could improve the offense but he is not the typical bargain diamond in the rough type of guy that Theo likes so sign.  Scutaro was more selective at the plate last season drawing 90 walks, an area that may make him more attractive to the Red Sox.

Well..
Scutaro, I like but hes not much different than Agon.

"Holliday going to the Mets" I think the Mets will set back for a few years and regroup..They spent a lot of money last year just to come in last and FAIL.

Well..The redsox want a title and will combine the best players to fill that roll. If every player was consistent every year, the redsox would be awesome, but its not.

Im just confused about Youk started off a raging bull the first 27 games and his AVG went as low as .289 by july 10th. But get this when the redsox won youk batted .324 and when they lost he batted .279 AVG. Is youk needed on the redsox or what? I hope hes a lifer.

Scutaro is a Type A free agent. The Sox should not reward Scutaro for his career year in Toronto on the turf. Save the first round draft pick and bring back Gonzo on a $3mil base with incentives for one year or two years max. I was sad to see the JJ Hardy trade. Congrats to the Twins.

Scutaro is an Upgrade
He's better than A-Gon or Lowrie. I think Gonzalez might be heading toward a decline. All things considered though I don't want to give up the draft picks on him either. If however the Red Sox sign Holliday and have to give up draft picks anyway they might as well get Scutaro.
